Frequently Asked Questions About Relationship and Trauma Recovery Coaching

  • You may have tried therapy or sought guidance from your church but still feel stuck and confused. Now, you’re exploring coaching as a path forward.

Coaching offers a chance to move beyond the past and focus on healing and growth. Unlike counseling, which often focuses primarily on the past, coaching focuses on the steps you can take to move forward. While we process aspects of the past to understand your story better, the focus remains on progress and moving ahead.

As a trauma recovery coach, I specialize in supporting individuals through trauma, abuse, narcissism, and challenging relationships. Many of my clients have faced abuse in intimate relationships or childhood trauma, leading to challenges like people-pleasing, perfectionism, or overwhelm. My goal is to help you find a healing path that aligns with your journey and faith.

Relationship and Trauma Recovery Coaching provides a safe space for women who have experienced various forms of abuse or trauma. It helps you gain clarity, regain control, and create a personalized plan to move forward.

Please note, coaching is not a substitute for licensed professional counseling or therapy for those needing a mental health diagnosis or treatment for a mental health condition.

  • Many of my clients come to me in your shoes. Throughout our work together, we’ll explore and clarify whether what you're experiencing is abuse or not, helping you gain the understanding and clarity you need. From there we can begin working towards creating a plan that helps you determine your next steps. You deserve peace and safety in your marriage and for this to happen, it’s important to identify what’s really at the root of the problem.

  • Absolutely! If you're unsure, we can start by gaining clarity around the issues you're currently facing, and from there, we’ll determine the best course of action. Many of my clients come to me with challenges that aren’t trauma or abuse related but are more about life and mental health challenges. If that sounds like you, I invite you to schedule a session through my Life and Mental Health Coaching portal.

  • If you are in immediate danger or fearing for your safety or the safety of your children, please reach out for help immediately by contacting your local domestic violence shelter or calling the national hotline at The National Domestic Violence Hotline or at 1.800.799.SAFE (7233).

If you have experienced domestic violence but are now in a safe and stable place and able to reach out, you are in the right place, I work mainly with women to help them recover from domestic violence and abuse. Together, we can focus on continuing to ensure your safety and explore your next steps toward recovery and healing. I also work with women as they navigate separation and divorce as well as the overwhelm of custody struggles.

  • Yes, you can. Relationship and Trauma Recovery Coaching is for women navigating all types of relationships—whether they’re married, in intimate relationships, or experiencing challenges within their family, faith community, or other personal relationships.

  • Yes, I work with women of all faith backgrounds or women with no faith background. I also work with those who are navigating what faith means to them after experiencing spiritual or religious abuse. Prior to your individual coaching session, I provide you with an intake form to fill out and in it, there is a place where you can let me know if you’d like faith-based guidance or not. * However, please note that The Overcomer’s Course is led from a Christian perspective.

  • I believe it’s biblically accurate to say that God designed marriage to be a lasting commitment, and that He wouldn’t condone frivolous divorces for minor disputes or for not being willing to work out our truly fixable problems.

However, I don’t believe God condones any marriage that destroys one partner due to the other partner’s destructive and repetitive abusive behaviors either. You can learn more about my view on separation and divorce here.

  • While therapy often focuses on listening, reflecting on your past, and diagnosing mental health conditions, my approach overlaps in that I empathetically listen and honor your past experiences. However, my focus is on understanding how those experiences have shaped your current situation and helping you move forward toward your goals and healing. I provide practical tools, strategies, and actionable steps to address and heal from your pain.

  • No, neither individual Relationship and Trauma Recovery Coaching nor The Overcomer’s Course are a substitute for licensed therapy for individuals who need a mental health diagnosis or therapeutic treatment.

I do not diagnose mental health disorders or work with clients facing severe mental health challenges. However, with my background in counseling, if it becomes evident that a client requires specialized treatment beyond my scope, I will refer you to a licensed therapist in your area. Some clients choose to continue working with me alongside their licensed therapist, who provides mental health assessments or treatments.
